Yanching Institute of Technology, located in Yanjiao National Hi-tech Development Zone—

—the core area of the Capital Economic Circle, 38 km to the east of Tian‘anmen Square, 

has been approved by Ministry of Education as a degree awarding powered university and 

granted with national enrollment quota.

            Its incarnation, North College of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, inherited 

and enhanced the experiences and traditions of its host university and became an excellent 

and outstanding independent college in eight years, with more than 20,000 students on campus.

The college has attached great importance to the quality and specialty of its discipline

development in order to foster talents with applicable competencies and innovative thoughts. 

       The college has set up a basic course teaching department and eight schools—-

School of Chemical and Material Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electronic 

Engineering,School of Information Science and Technology, School of Accounting, School 

of Administration, School of Literal Arts, School of International Business and School of Fine 

Arts, with a total of 39 undergraduate specialties. 

       The college possesses a well-organized team of faculty, consisting of famous experts and

professors. It has so far established 11 experiment and training centers together with 115

laboratories at advanced level.  

       The college library has a collection of 1.65 million volumes as well as an online library and

a full coverage digital campus network. The college also highlights scientific research in its daily 

work. 

       In the past five years, it has undertaken and completed 91 scientific research programs at 

various levels and publicized 407 academic papers. It has compiled and printed 89 textbooks,

four of which have been patented.

       The college vigorously carries out internationalization and localization strategies and has 

established friendly and cooperative relationships with many universities from Asia, Europe 

and North America. Dozens of students have been granted full scholarships for postgraduate 

studies abroad. At the same time, the college has introduced advanced international concepts 

into its operations and achieved satisfactory results.

       The college combines overall fostering with individual development of the students. 

Therefore, it organizes plenty of out of class activities, such as cultural shows, sports, scientific 

and technical competitions, various festivals, moral education, etc. to enrich students’ spare 

time, cheer up their spirits and build up their confidence. Because of these activities, over 2100 

students have been awarded national scholarships, and our participants have won prizes in 220 

national, ministerial and provincial contests. 

       Based on the traditional strengths of the host university and taking the advantage of 

experiences and lessons of other colleges, the college has adapted a modern operational model 

with remarkable and special characteristics in cultivating talents, which has brought fairly good 

results. The onetime pass rate of CET4 has been above 50% for four consecutive years; the 

employment rate is above 90%; and postgraduate qualifier rate is more than 10%, well above the 

similar colleges.

       The college places a very high value on students’ practical ability training and has conducted 

reforms and renovations tofoster talents with applicable skills. While ensuring the fundamentality, 

systematicity and theoretic integrity of undergraduate education, the college strengthens practical 

training and quality education, collaborating with relevant enterprises to tailor the graduates to their 

future jobs.

       Remarkable achievements have won the college wide social acclaim and recognition. In the 

Annual China Higher Education Appraisal Activity, the college has been on the top list of national 

independent colleges for five consecutive years in a row and got the fame of National Independent 

Colleges with Most Brand Value. In 2012, it was chosen by ChinaNet to be the Independent 

College with Most Satisfaction among Students，which reflects the total appreciation from the 

public of its achievements.
